Nosferatu Explorations - The Ship

audiovisual extemporations (2012)

Nosferatu Explorations - The Ship, is a music and video performance for saxophone and computer. It focusses on an important structural element of Friedrich Murnau's Nosferatu (1922), namely the journey that the vampire undertakes to meet Ellen, the woman he is madly in love with after having seen her photo. Of course Ellen's husband, Hütter, tries to stop Nosferatu, but despite valiant struggles, he is not able to protect her. The score follows the outline of the film music I created in 2009, with the acoustic sound of the saxophone being augmented with various effects, and with live video mixing and transformation.
